#2 Grow And Preserve Your Own Food
The Amish are directly self- sufficient in most ways. But they are also indirectly self- sufficient in other ways. For example, they grow their own crops, sell a portion of it, and buy the things they don’t grow or make. You don’t have to grow all your food. But do what you can.
It is easier to start with easy crops like tomatoes, lettuce, pumpkins etc.
It is also good to preserve the crops you reap. It is better to preserve to your crops during harvest time, than to buy them at the store when they are out of season.
An excellent way to preserve produce is canning.
